Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine in Washington, D.C.
DIOCESAN PILGRIMMAGE TO THE BASILICA OF THE NATIONAL SHRINE OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION IN WASHINGTON, DC, WITH BISHOP ZUBIK is scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2018. The four parishes in our grouping will be sponsoring a bus: Saint Paul Cathedral, Saint Stephen, Saint Regis and Saint Rosalia. We are taking registrations now for this special trip. A pilgrimage is a prayerful journey to a Church or a shrine with the intent purpose of coming closer to God. After 100 years, the largest Catholic Church in North America is now complete. Its “Trinity Dome” has been termed a modern-day masterpiece. Twenty-four tons of Venetian glass were used in its construction. We will be travelling by Lenzer Coach. The schedule for the day involves leaving Saint Paul Cathedral at 6:00 am with arrival in Washington, DC around 11:00 am. Mass will be celebrated with Bishop Zubik at the National Shrine, along with a sacred music concert by the diocesan choir, a holy hour and a tour of the National Shrine. We depart around 5:00 pm with arrival at Saint Paul Cathedral between 10:00 and 11:00 pm, depending on what we do for dinner. The total cost of the bus rental is $3,392 but the Cathedral parish will help to underwrite that expense for our parishioners who join us. We are asking for a $30 non-refundable bus registration fee to help offset the other expenses involved and to secure your seat. Please contact Christine Raizin at 412-621-4951 or email@example.com to register. Let’s fill our bus and join the bishop for this very special day. All are welcome, but please know there is some walking involved and the trip can be taxing.
